What is a small animal netting?

A small animal net (also known as a small animal fence) is a tightly woven fence with which you can protect smaller animals such as rabbits, cats or other small animals.

In many cases, these nets can also be electrified. With an electrified small animal net you can fend off wild animals such as foxes, martens or wolves.

Basically, small animal nets are differentiated between poultry nets, cat nets and rabbit nets. The main difference between these variants is on the one hand the fence height and on the other hand the size of the meshes.

For smaller animals such as rabbits, the nets are lower and more closely meshed, while for poultry the nets are significantly higher.

In 3 steps to the right small animal net

Step 1: Select the correct fence length

Small animal nets for rabbits are generally available in 12 m, 25 m or 50 m lengths. Depending on the size of your meadow, you must take care to choose the right length. For cats there is only the standard size of 25 m length.

Step 2: Pay attention to the appropriate pole tips for your ground

For earthy or sandy ground we recommend double points at the end of the fence posts. This way your small animal net can be anchored in the ground in a stable way. If the ground is rather stony, a single point provides more stability.

Step 3: Decide between an electric or non-electric version

If your small animal fence has to repel wild animals, it should be electrified. However, if it is only a matter of ensuring that none of your animals escape, a small animal net without electrification may be sufficient for you.

These accessories are useful for a small animal fence

Electric fence gate: This gate can be integrated into any part of your small animal net and allows easy passage. You don't have to climb over the net or lift garden tools like lawnmowers over it.

Replacement post for nettings: If a post breaks, there are suitable replacement posts for different types of net.

Pasture fence 9V: If you do not have to fend off wild animals, a "weaker" battery unit with 9V is probably sufficient for you.

230V mains energiser: If you would like an electrifiable small animal network and have access to a socket, a 230V electric fence is the right choice for you.

12V fence energiser: If you want to move the fence more often or do not have access to a socket, a 12V battery-powered pasture fence is the most powerful alternative.
