What is a sheep netting?

A sheep netting (also known as a sheep fencing) is an electrified fence with which you can effectively fence in your sheep flock. However, unlike a conventional electric fence, a sheep netting is more closely meshed, which increases the security of the sheep flock.

Because the tight meshes mean that your sheep cannot squeeze through. Furthermore, the netting is flush with the ground and the animals cannot slip through at the bottom.

Since sheep are very robust animals due to their thick fur, you need a powerful electric fence device to electrify your sheep netting. Here we recommend either a 230V mains energiser (if you have access to a power outlet) or a 12V electric fence energiser (if you do not have access to a power outlet or want to use the netting on the move).

In 3 steps to the right sheep net

Step 1: Make sure the net is at the correct height

Sheep nets are available in either 90 cm or 108 cm height. Which height is the right one for you here depends mainly on the size of your animals.

Step 2: Know your type of terrain

In recent years, some manufacturers have developed special sheep nets for uneven terrain. So before buying, check the terrain of your planned pasture. This will help you to choose between a "normal" or a special sheep net suitable for uneven terrain.

Step 3: Choose the appropriate pole tip for your terrain

A distinction is made between single tips and double tips in sheep nets. If the ground is rather stony, we advise you to use a single point, whereas for sandy or earthy ground a double point is the better choice for you.

This accessory is useful for a sheep fence

230V mains energiser: If you have access to a power outlet, a 230V electric fence energiser is the best choice for the electrification of your sheep net.

Electric fence energiser 12V: If you want to use your sheep net mobile or if you do not have access to a socket, you should use a battery operated fence energiser with 12V.

Electric fence gate: With an electric fence gate you can easily pass through and you do not have to climb over the net.

Netting replacement post: If one of your posts breaks, it is handy to have one or even several replacement posts handy.

Various netting accessories: You can find practical accessories for your netting such as connectors, pliers or ground anchors here.
