Buckwheat belongs to the so-called pseudo cereals. Buckwheat contains plenty of vitamin E, B1 and B2, as well as potassium, iron, calcium, magnesium and silicic Acid. The grain does not contain gluten and is particularly suitable for dogs with wheat or gluten intolerance. Buckwheat is often used for baking dog treats. Since buckwheat, like rice or wheat, has an increased allergen potential, the grains should only be fed to dogs hulled.

Buckwheat has a nutty taste and is also very popular with birds. The grains are also very well accepted by rabbits and rodents. The grain contains a particularly high amount of lysine and dietary fibre, which optimally supplements the diet and leads to better utilisation of the proteins. Regular feeding of feed mixtures with buckwheat also has a positive effect on cholesterol levels.
