BUSSE Olive Head Snaffle Bit KAUGAN 18 mm, double-jointed – a calm mouthpiece for clear communication

The BUSSE Olive Head Snaffle Bit KAUGAN 18 mm, double-jointed is designed for riders who want a stable, quiet bit position combined with precise aids. Thanks to its solid construction and elliptical centre piece, it distributes pressure evenly across tongue and bars, avoiding a nutcracker effect and supporting clear communication between you and your horse.

The mouthpiece is made from Kaugan, a copper-rich, nickel-free alloy that stimulates your horse's chewing activity and salivation – helping horses that are usually reluctant to accept metal bits. The elliptical centre piece and all connecting links are precisely matched to the bit's size and strength, giving an ideal fit. Stainless steel rings complete the high-quality build and ensure long-lasting use in daily yard and competition work.

FAQ:

What is Kaugan?
Kaugan is a special copper-rich, nickel-free alloy that stimulates your horse's chewing activity, improving acceptance of the bit without reducing its effectiveness.

Which horses benefit most from this bit?
Its solid, double-jointed design lies quietly in the mouth and suits horses that need even pressure on tongue and bars. As Kaugan is nickel-free, it's also a good choice for horses with nickel sensitivity.

How do I find the right bit width?
Measure your horse's mouth at the point where the bit will sit and choose a width that leaves about 0.5 cm of space on each side.

Warning/safety information

Warning/safety instructions for bits

A bit should have the correct width for the horse's mouth, which is measured on the horse in advance. The BUSSE bit width gauge is suitable for this.

The choice of the right type of bit is individual and depends on many factors - such as the horse's level of training, its mouth shape and sensitivity, and the rider's hand. Therefore, it makes sense to try out dentures.

When strapping in the bit, make sure that it is strapped in correctly: the BUSSE logo is on the left side of the horse's head, with the hollow side of the bit pointing towards the throat and the other side towards the mouth outlet . (If the bit is correctly positioned in front of you, you can read the size label on the right shank the right way up - it is not upside down.)

It is important that the bit fits correctly into the bit straps of the bridle or curb is buckled. When buckled correctly using the bit straps, approx. 2-3 small wrinkles will form at the corners of the mouth.

The bit should be checked regularly for signs of wear, such as sharp edges, and replaced if necessary. Please only use the bit if it is in an appropriate condition that does not harm the horse's well-being.
