Salt Lick: Minerals Available Around the Clock
A salt lick belongs in every alpaca and llama group. The animals take up salt and trace elements themselves whenever they need them, with no daily mixing on your part. The right spot in the barn and on pasture
Hang the block so that every animal can reach it comfortably, including the lower ranking ones. In larger groups two places are worth the effort, so nobody gets pushed away. Out on pasture a spot sheltered from rain makes sense, for instance under the field shelter, because constant wet dissolves the block far faster than you would like.
