Wet cloths take the dirt with them straight away, and dry ones suit wiping over before the cluster goes on. Either way, one cloth per animal and never used twice.

When is care no longer enough?
As soon as an area weeps, is badly reddened, smells, or the animal reacts noticeably to being touched. Then it is your vet who is needed, not the next salve.
