Electric Fence: Safe and Durable Fencing for Your Animals

A reliable electric fence is the absolute foundation of any responsible animal husbandry. It not only ensures that your herd remains safely in the assigned paddock, but also effectively protects them from intruders and wildlife from the outside. A modern electric fence system functions as both a psychological and physical barrier: upon contact, the animals receive a short, harmless, but memorable electrical impulse that trains them to respect the fence in the future. With perfectly coordinated components, you can build a system that works absolutely safely and weatherproof for many years.

What Components Make Up an Electric Fence?

Every well-functioning pasture fence needs a heart: the energizer. It supplies the system with the necessary electrical impulses. The current is transported along the paddock via highly conductive materials (such as tapes, ropes, or polywires). The system is supported by sturdy wooden, metal, or plastic posts. To prevent the electricity from flowing into the ground, the use of high-quality insulators is absolutely necessary to securely separate the conductor material from the post.

Mobile and Stationary Fence Systems

Depending on the animal species and location, you can choose between permanent fixed fences and flexible, mobile solutions. For the short-term fencing of sheep or poultry, for example, prefabricated electric nets have proven their worth. For the quick construction of robust paddocks or treatment facilities, professionals like to use solid corral panels made of tubular steel.

Frequently Asked Questions about Electric Fencing

Which electric fence is right for my animals?
That depends on the species. Horses and cattle need visible wide tapes or ropes at two to three heights. Sheep and goats are less sensitive because of their thick wool and often require special electric nets or close-meshed polywire fences with a very powerful energizer.

How strong must the current on the fence be?
The guarding voltage should be at least 2,500 to 3,000 volts at every point of the fence. With robust animals or heavy vegetation on the fence, voltages of over 4,000 volts are recommended so that the impulse can penetrate the animals' thick fur.

Why is my fence losing voltage?
The most common causes of voltage loss are heavy vegetation (grass or branches touching the conductor material), defective or inferior insulators, rust on connectors, or inadequate grounding of the energizer.

Everything for the Perfect Electric Fence from a Single Source

For escape-proof animal husbandry, your fence system must be perfectly thought out. The powerhouse of your system is the Electric Fence Energizer, which you adapt perfectly to the length of your fence. The system is supported by robust Electric Fence Posts. To conduct the current loss-free across the paddock, choose the right tape, rope, or polywire from our high-quality Conductor Material, which is securely fixed by special Electric Fence Insulators.

Smooth-running Electric Fence Gates ensure convenient access to the pasture. As an alternative to classic wire fences, our flexible Electric Net Fence is ideal for poultry or sheep, while you can build mobile paddocks and boxes in no time at all without tools using solid Electric Fence Panels. Complete your system with the right Electric Fence Accessories (such as warning signs or lightning protection) and benefit from maximum safety.
