Disinfection is not an extra, it is a fixed working step: after mucking out, before housing stock, after the vet has been. Here you will find products for surfaces, equipment, boots and hands. Pathogens travel. They cling to boot soles, tyres and hands and move from farm to farm that way. What matters is that the mat stays wet and that coarse dirt is scraped off first. For visitors and for moving between pens, a hand disinfectant with a spray head completes the picture.

Always clean first. No product reaches the pathogens through muck, feed residues and biofilm. Only a clean, dried surface makes disinfection worthwhile.

How often does the mat need topping up?
That depends on the weather, the traffic and the dirt. As soon as the mat is dry or visibly soiled it stops working, so empty it, rinse it out and make it up fresh.

Do I need hand disinfectant as well?
Yes, because hands are the most direct route to the animal. A dispenser at the entrance and one at the treatment area are usually enough to make reaching for it a habit.
