Horse Boots: Secure Protection for Tendons and Joints

Horse boots offer indispensable protection against impacts and injuries. Discover high-quality models for dressage, jumping, and turnout.

Horse Boots: Optimal Impact Protection for Horse Legs

In equestrian sports and in the pasture, the horse's legs are particularly vulnerable. Horse boots offer indispensable protection for the sensitive tendons, ligaments, and joints. They prevent injuries that can occur when the hooves strike each other (brushing) or when clearing obstacles. Unlike bandages, they can be put on in seconds and offer a hard outer shell that absorbs even strong impacts.

The Right Protection for Every Discipline

The selection of horse boots is huge and depends on the area of application. In show jumping, hard-shell tendon boots are mostly used; they protect the cannon bone at the back and sides but are open at the front. For dressage or groundwork, many riders resort to closed soft boots or fetlock boots, which almost completely enclose the joint and gently support it.

Boots for Rest and Transport

Protection doesn't stop after training. In addition to models for work, there are also special stable boots that are worn in the box and prevent filled legs. When heading to a competition, thick travel boots protect against injuries in the trailer. To actively promote recovery after injuries or hard training, modern therapy boots (e.g., with magnetic fields or cooling functions) are also very popular.

Frequently Asked Questions

How tight must a horse boot be?
The boot must be tight enough so that it does not slip during movement and no sand can enter. However, it must under no circumstances restrict blood circulation. If you can still slide a finger between the boot and the horse's leg, the fit is usually ideal.

How do I clean horse boots properly?
Hard-shell boots can simply be washed off with a wet sponge or under the hose. Models made of neoprene or with faux fur can usually be washed in the washing machine at 30 °C (86 °F). Always close the Velcro fasteners first!

When should my horse wear boots?
Boots are absolutely recommended for jumping, cross-country, and lunging. Light, closed boots can also be useful in the paddock or pasture if the horse tends to injure itself while playing.
