Lifting Straps: GS-Tested Webbing Slings and Tow Slings

Two ply lifting straps with end loops, GS-tested, plus elastic tow ropes and slings for tractors, lorries and excavators.

Lifting Strap: Carry, Lift, Tow

Where chains are too heavy and ropes too awkward, the lifting strap steps in. It is light, it folds away and it spreads the load across the full width of the webbing. At Agrarzone you will find two ply lifting straps with two end loops that are GS-tested, as well as tow ropes and tow slings for tractors, lorries and construction machinery.

Construction and markings

The two ply construction delivers working load at low weight, and the end loops are the points you rig from. Every strap carries a label with the working load and the markings. That label is part of the product. If it is missing or unreadable, the strap must not be used any more, because the permitted load can no longer be established. Lifting strap colours follow a common system, but when in doubt always rely on the label and never on the shade of the webbing. A sleeve over the label keeps it readable through years of rough handling.

Towing with strap and sling

When towing, elasticity counts alongside breaking load. An elastic tow rope four metres long cushions the jolt as you pull away and so protects both vehicles. For heavy machinery there are professional tow slings with a very high breaking load. Only rig at the points provided for it, never at axles or attachments, and keep everyone well clear of the area between the vehicles while towing. Pull away slowly so the rope takes up the slack before the load comes on.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does GS-tested mean?
The mark stands for safety verified by an independent body. For lifting equipment that is an important criterion, because a failure under load rarely ends harmlessly.

Can I use a lifting strap for towing?
Better not. Lifting straps are designed for a steady vertical pull. Towing calls for ropes and slings that can absorb the jolt as the vehicle pulls away.

How do I store lifting straps?
Dry, dark and away from chemicals or fuel. UV light and oil attack the webbing without the damage being obvious from the outside.

Lifting Straps and Tow Slings

Where chains are too heavy and ropes too awkward, the lifting strap is the practical answer. It is light, it folds away and it spreads the load across the full width of the webbing. At Agrarzone you will find two ply lifting straps with two end loops, GS-tested, in several working load classes. The label showing the working load is part of the product: if it is missing or unreadable, the strap must not be used any more. For moving vehicles we also stock elastic tow ropes four metres long that cushion the jolt as you pull away, plus professional tow slings with a high breaking load for tractors, lorries and construction machinery. Only ever rig at the points provided for it and never at axles or attachments. Keep everyone clear of the area between the vehicles while towing.
