Bedding is the basis for a clean hutch. It should take up moisture and bind odour, stay as low in dust as possible and be easy to change. Which bedding for what

Heuland forest floor bedding with 60 litres and the version with maize are highly absorbent and work well as a base layer in the hutch. Leimueller spelt husks with 5 kg and Agrarzone spelt bedding with 15 kg are light and pleasantly soft under the paws. Beeztees Forest Bedding suits smaller areas and the toilet corner. Layering, changing, keeping clean

A highly absorbent base layer with a softer layer of straw or hay on top has proved itself well. Take damp patches out every day, change the whole bedding regularly and let the hutch floor dry properly in between. In the toilet corner a thicker layer is worthwhile because most of it collects there. Store the bedding dry so it keeps its absorbency and does not clump. A scoop and a small brush make the daily round through the hutch quicker.
