It means that the thick metal pin inside runs completely through the round plastic head. If strong tension acts on the fence – for example, due to wind, snow, or an animal – the plastic head will not break off. The iron support safely absorbs the load and keeps the ring in shape.
Which Material is the Ring Insulator Suitable For?
Ring insulators are true all-rounders. They are highly suitable for polywire, smooth steel wire, and electric fence ropes (up to approx. 8 mm in diameter). The material can glide freely through the ring, making it very easy to retension the fence. However, they are not recommended for wide electric fence tapes, as the tape folds inside the ring, wears out faster, and looks narrower.
