The red bird mite is one of the most important ectoparasites in poultry farming. Especially between spring and autumn, it causes considerable stress for the animals. In addition to weakening the immune system, infectious diseases can also occur. In extreme cases, infestation with the red bird mite can also lead to the death of the birds.

The red bird mite is a blood-sucking temporary ectoparasite. This means that it leaves its host after each blood intake and then lays its eggs in the crevices and cavities of the coop. Their high resistance makes them very difficult to control. Control can be done by chemical or physical methods. The use of chemical methods is increasingly difficult due to the formation of resistances and stricter biocide regulations.

With Deuka VoMiGo chicken feed, effective protection against the red bird mite can be achieved without using chemical agents.

Adapted to the nutrient requirements of laying poultry, this complete feed for laying hens also contains an aromatic substance made from various plant extracts. After ingestion, this flavouring has the effect of changing the odour of the poultry, which attracts the red bird mite. The red bird mite thus no longer recognises its host animal and stops sucking blood. In this way, on the one hand, the reproduction of the red bird mite is significantly reduced and, on the other hand, it dies after a longer period (approx. 34 weeks) due to the lack of food intake. However, the stress in the poultry flock is reduced significantly faster due to the decreasing infestation.

Note: For humans, the flavouring substance from plant extracts is absolutely harmless and is neither present in the eggs nor in the meat in terms of smell or taste. Waiting times for meat consumption do not have to be observed either.

Feeding recommendation:

Feed as complete feed to the hens for free disposal during the laying period. Always provide fresh drinking water. Note: The feed contains a flavouring agent. Therefore, do not add too much to other feeds.
