Give brittle hooves new elasticity. Discover premium hoof oils that penetrate deeply, lock in moisture, and provide a healthy shine.

Hoof Oil: Deep Care for Elastic and Healthy Horn

A healthy horse hoof must have a certain basic level of moisture to fulfill its important shock-absorbing function. If the horn is too dry, it loses its elasticity, becomes brittle, and tends to crack. A high-quality hoof oil is the ideal care product to prevent exactly this. Due to its liquid consistency, the oil penetrates particularly deeply into the pores of the hoof horn, nourishes it from the inside out, and effectively locks the required moisture into the hoof.

The Right Application for Optimal Moisture

A common misconception is that hoof oil should be applied to bone-dry hooves. In fact, oil works best when the hoof has been washed beforehand. If you apply the oil to the still-damp hoof wall, it acts as a seal. The moisture from the water is locked into the horn and cannot evaporate as quickly. This keeps your horse's hooves beautifully supple, especially during dry summers.

Brilliant Shine for the Show Ring

In addition to the health aspect, hoof oil is also the secret to a perfect appearance. Before entering the dressage or jumping arena, a thin film of oil on the hoof wall provides a wonderful, long-lasting shine. Unlike solid hoof grease, oil can be distributed much finer and faster with a brush, saving you valuable time on a show weekend.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between hoof oil and hoof grease?
The main difference lies in the consistency and depth of penetration. Hoof oil is liquid, absorbs very quickly and deeply into the horn, and is excellent for dry, brittle hooves. Hoof grease, on the other hand, is solid and forms more of a protective film on the outside of the hoof wall to shield it from extreme wetness (e.g., in winter).

Should I also apply the hoof oil to the coronary band?
Yes, this is highly recommended! The coronary band is the area where the new hoof horn is formed. If you gently massage the hoof oil in there with a brush, you keep the tissue supple, stimulate blood circulation, and thus promote the healthy regrowth of the hoof capsule.

Can I also apply hoof oil to the hoof sole?
Basically yes, hoof oil does not harm the sole. However, caring for the outer hoof wall and the coronary band is usually sufficient, as the sole absorbs natural moisture through contact with the ground. But if the sole is extremely hard and dry, a little oil there can also help to improve elasticity.

High-Quality Hoof Oil for Daily Care

Particularly in the summer months, many horses suffer from dry, cracked hooves. When the natural elasticity is lost, the entire musculoskeletal system suffers. With a good hoof oil, you effectively counteract this problem. It penetrates deeply into the pores, keeps the horn supple, and also gives the hooves a beautifully groomed appearance.
