With the Kerbl battery holder, the control unit of your automatic chicken door Duo Pro or Duo Smart runs on four AA batteries. On the Duo Smart, which is mains powered out of the box, it is what makes battery operation possible in the first place. On the Duo Pro it replaces a lost or damaged battery holder.

The real advantage is parallel operation: with the power adapter and batteries connected at the same time, the door keeps opening and closing even during a power cut. As long as the adapter supplies power, the batteries are not used. That way your hens are never shut in in the morning or left unprotected at night just because a fuse trips in the coop.

Can I run the Duo Smart without a mains socket?
Yes. With the battery holder fitted and four AA batteries inserted, the Duo Smart runs independently of the mains. It then switches to energy-saving mode automatically and reacts to a change from light to dark after about three minutes.

Does the control unit use the batteries when the adapter is connected?
No. As long as the power adapter supplies power, the batteries stay untouched and only take over during a power cut. You should still replace them at regular intervals so they are full when you need them.

How do I fit the battery holder?
Turn the housing of the control unit to the open position, insert the battery holder with the batteries and connect the plug to the battery connector of the control unit. Then close the housing again.
