Aesculap lists this tool as a blending shear; on the salon table it is simply the thinning scissors, and it belongs to the finishing stage. It breaks up hard cut lines and models transitions so the finished groom looks as though the coat grew that way. Both versions are made from Japanese steel.

You have a choice of two characters. The fine version with 40 teeth and a prism edge takes the coat in a very controlled way and suits delicate thinning and detailed finishing. The coarse version with 24 teeth and a chunker edge lifts out larger sections at once and gets you through dense coat much faster.
