Full containment for long fences: Kerbl TITAN Ni 16000 mains electric fence energiser 230V

The Kerbl TITAN Ni 16000 is a mains electric fence energiser (230V) for large pastures and long fences with heavy vegetation. With 16 joules of stored energy it powers the fence from the socket around the clock, with no battery changes and no charging breaks. This lets you reliably contain cattle, bulls, sheep, goats and horses and keep wild boar and wolves away from your animals.

The TITAN pulse technology sends up to 11 joules per pulse to the fence. This energy ensures the shock is still effective even when grass and branches on the wire leak current. Using the two fence outputs you choose full or reduced power, for example for electric netting. Two-colour LEDs show you fence voltage, earthing and power consumption at a glance. If an animal or a branch stays in contact, the energiser triggers an alarm and slows down the pulse rate.

Overview:

  • Enough voltage even for thick coats: under load there are still 6.900 V on the fence, cattle in winter coat, sheep and goats need at least 4.000 V
  • Vegetation on the fence hardly holds you back: up to 18 km of fence with medium and up to 9 km with heavy vegetation
  • Also for mobile grazing: up to 38 electric nets of 50 m each can be connected
  • Find faults quickly, as the LEDs report weak earthing or excessive consumption immediately
  • Short electric pulses: unpleasant but harmless; put up a warning sign along public paths
  • Robust quality, made in Germany

Questions & answers:

How much electricity does the energiser cost in continuous use?
The TITAN Ni 16000 draws 13 W, which comes to about 114 kWh over the whole year. That is around 40 euros a year (at 35 cents per kWh), even with the fence running continuously.

How many earth rods do I need for such a powerful energiser?
Plan for at least 3 earth rods with a length of 2 m, ideally in moist ground and away from buildings. Space them at least 3 m apart and connect them to each other. In dry ground additional rods help, because weak earthing costs a lot of voltage on the fence.

Is the energiser suitable for a wolf protection fence?
Yes, the TITAN Ni 16000 is also designed to deter wolves and wild boar. What matters is that enough voltage reaches every part of the fence. So check it regularly with a fence tester, especially at the end of long fences and after strong grass growth.

How many ground rods do I need? When using several rods, keep a distance of at least 3 metres between each one. Why should the ground rod be galvanised?Rust has an insulating effect and hinders the voltage return to the fence energiser – galvanised steel prevents this.

AKO Lightning Choke for Electric Fence with Spark Gap
AKO Lightning Choke for Electric Fence with Spark Gap

Electric Fence Lightning Choke: Reliable Surge Protection A lightning strike on your fence line can destroy your electric fence unit within seconds. The AKO lightning choke safely discharges the resulting surge, protecting your fence energiser from costly damage. This is especially important where the fence cable is routed into a building. The unit consists of a lightning choke and spark gap and is fitted to non-flammable material on the outside wall of the building before the fence line is connected to the energiser. This keeps surges away from the unit and channels them safely to earth. The same applies to combi units once they're run from a mains adapter, where surge protection is a mandatory requirement under VDE regulations. Overview: Protects your fence energiser from lightning-induced surges Consists of a lightning choke and spark gap Screw-fit to non-flammable surfaces Galvanised metal housing for long-lasting corrosion resistance Mandatory when the energiser is installed inside a building (per VDE) Also suitable for combi units run via mains adapter Technical Data: Material: galvanised metal Dimensions: approx. 31.5 x 20 x 4.5 cm Weight: approx. 0.37 kg Mounting: screw-fixed to building wall Package Contents: 1x lightning choke for electric fence1x spark gap FAQ: Where should I mount the lightning choke?Fit it to the outside wall on non-flammable material, before the fence line connects to the energiser. Do I also need a fence switch?A fence switch is a useful addition, letting you isolate the fence from the unit before a storm arrives; the choke works independently of this. Is surge protection needed for solar or battery units too? It's mandatory under VDE mainly for mains-powered or combi units with a mains adapter installed inside buildings.
