The Agrarzone B 17 is a battery electric fence energiser running on a 9 V battery for small, mobile paddocks without vegetation. You place it right by the fence, completely without a mains connection, and reliably fence in horses, pigs, dogs and cats on a paddock, rotational pasture or in the garden.
The power source is a 9 V fence battery that you simply insert and connect. If you would rather change it less often, you can run the energiser on a 12 V battery using an optional adapter cable. The LED battery indicator shows you the battery status at a glance. The B 17 is not designed for electric netting.

- Enough voltage for horses: under load there are still 2.600 V on the fence, around 2.500 V is recommended
- Too weak for cattle in winter coat, sheep and goats, they need at least 4.000 V

Can I connect a car battery instead of the 9 V battery?
With the optional 12 V adapter cable the B 17 also runs on a 12 V battery. A deep-cycle battery is the better choice, because a car battery copes poorly with constant discharging and recharging. The 9 V fence battery itself cannot be recharged.
Why does the battery run flat sooner than expected?
Usually it is down to vegetation: grass and branches on the wire leak current, which lowers the fence voltage and increases consumption. So keep the fence line clear and check the voltage regularly with a fence tester.
How do I earth the energiser correctly?
For the B 17 the supplied earth rod with a length of 1 m is enough. Drive it as fully as possible into moist ground, away from buildings. In dry ground, additional earth rods spaced at least 3 m apart and connected to each other will help.
