On mains or with a battery: Agrarzone DUO 1500 electric fence energiser 230V / 12V
The Agrarzone DUO 1500 is an electric fence energiser for 230 V mains and 12 V battery. At the farm or stable you plug it into the socket, on the pasture without a mains connection you simply clip on a 12 V battery. This lets you contain horses, cattle, sheep, goats and poultry with just one energiser, wherever the paddock is.
With 2 joules of stored energy, 1,5 joules reach the fence as a pulse. This energy determines how clearly the shock can be felt, even when grass grows into the wire. Under load there are still 4.600 V on the fence. The DUO 1500 is best suited to short and medium fences with little vegetation, with polytape, polywire, polyrope or electric netting.
Overview:
- Enough voltage even for sheep, goats and cattle in winter coat: still 4.600 V under load, at least 4.000 V is recommended
- One energiser for two uses: in summer with a battery on the pasture, in winter on mains at the stable
- Up to 15 km of fence without vegetation, up to 4,5 km with medium vegetation
- Electric netting for sheep or poultry up to 250 m long
- Secure earthing with 2 earth rods of 1 m each in moist ground, in dry ground more rods spaced at least 3 m apart
- Short electric pulses: unpleasant but harmless; put up a warning sign along public paths

Questions & answers:
How long does a 12 V battery last on the DUO 1500?
The energiser draws 176 mA, so a 75 Ah battery lasts roughly 17 days and a 100 Ah battery a good 3 weeks. Vegetation on the fence increases consumption and shortens the run time. Recharge the battery in good time, before it is completely flat.
Can I connect an old car battery?
Better not. A starter battery is built for short, high currents and copes poorly with constant discharging on an electric fence. A deep-cycle 12 V battery lasts much longer and can be recharged again and again.
Are 2 joules enough for sheep and goats in electric netting?
Yes, for electric netting up to 250 m. Under load the DUO 1500 still delivers 4.600 V and so stays above the minimum of 4.000 V that sheep and goats with dense coats need. Check the voltage regularly with a fence tester, because grass on the netting quickly pulls it down.

Can I install the battery lying on its side? Some 9V electric fence units require the battery to be installed on its side – check your unit's requirements. What happens if I open the battery? As it's a closed system, opening it voids the warranty.
Galvanised ground rod 1 m – reliable earthing for your electric fence The AKO ground rod provides reliable earthing for your paddock or electric fence system. Made from hot-dip galvanised T-steel, it is exceptionally robust and weather-resistant, making it ideal for permanent outdoor use. Thanks to the M6 stainless steel screw, the earth connection cable can be fitted quickly and securely. Additional M8 and M12 drill holes allow the connection of earth cables with a wire terminal clamp, giving flexibility for different connection systems. It provides the foundation for reliable containment on horse, cattle, sheep and goat pastures. Overview: Reliable earthing for electric and paddock fences Hot-dip galvanised T-steel resists corrosion permanently M6 stainless steel screw for the earth connection cable Additional M8 and M12 drill holes for wire terminal clamp Suitable for horse, cattle, sheep and goat pastures Easy to drive into moist soil Technical Data: Length: 100 cm Width: 3 cm Height/profile: 2.5 cm Weight: approx. 1.4 kg Material: hot-dip galvanised T-steel Connection: M6 stainless steel screw, plus M8 and M12 drill hole Scope of Delivery: 1x galvanised ground rod, 1 m1x M6 stainless steel screw FAQ: How deep should I drive the ground rod?Drive it as deep as possible into moist soil, as this closes the electrical circuit most effectively. How many ground rods do I need? When using several rods, keep a distance of at least 3 metres between each one. Why should the ground rod be galvanised?Rust has an insulating effect and hinders the voltage return to the fence energiser – galvanised steel prevents this.
voltage readout in 6 levels needs no batteries precise measurement of fence voltage
with M8 eyelets connects fencer and ground rod excellent connection between indoors energizer to outside ground rod also suitable for connecting several ground rods
Warning sign for the identification of pasture fence systems A warning sign is used to identify electric fence systems. The yellow information sign warns of touching an electric fence. According to the VDE electric fencing is subject to the labeling requirement. Warning signs must be clearly visible at a distance of approx. 100 m.
