An infestation with the red bird mites (Dermanyssus gallinae) is usually a big scare for chicken farmers. After all, these pests can become very threatening to poultry. As a false host, the arachnid can also spread to mammals and humans. It is best of all if the red bird mite does not infest chickens and the coop in the first place. The solution for reduced infestation of mites lies in the chicken feed.
The pelleted Leimüller Classic laying hen feed is a balanced feed for laying hens. The basis of this mixture is corn and Austrian danube soybean meal. Due to the full equipment of important nutrients, vitamins, minerals and trace elements, your animals are supplied in the best possible way. The special feature of the laying hen feed Classic are the special aromatic compounds. The natural active ingredient against these ectoparasites enters with the feed into the bloodstream of the hens and the smell of the hen changes. Due to the herbal extract in the chicken feed, which consists exclusively of essential oils based on citrus peel, cloves and herbs, the hen is no longer attractive to the mite and its food source dries up. Since the mite can only reproduce by ingesting blood, its mass reproduction is stopped.
The advantage of pellets compared to granulated and farinaceous chicken feed is that segregation during storage is excluded. Selective feeding behavior plus possible contamination are reduced. Through the pellets, the animals automatically take in the complete mixture of nutrients. The animals' diet is thus balanced. In this way, lower-ranking animals also receive the "good grains".
