Leimüller Carob – naturally sweet, for horses, rabbits, chinchillas & rodents
Dried and cut pods of the carob tree. Naturally high in sugar, with a liquorice note – a popular treat.
Carob is a single feed material for horses, dwarf rabbits, hares, chinchillas, hamsters, guinea pigs and other rodents. The dried and chopped legume naturally contains starch, protein, iron, manganese, magnesium and calcium as well as B-group vitamins and dietary fibre.
Thanks to its liquorice-like flavour and natural sweetness, carob is eaten very readily. With 5% crude protein, 2% crude fat and 7.4% crude fibre it is high in carbohydrates and low in fat. Strict quality control and repeated cleaning make the goods clean and low in dust.

Can rabbits and chinchillas eat carob?
Yes, in small amounts. One or two teaspoons a week are enough, because the pods are naturally high in sugar.
Is carob a substitute for dry bread for hares?
Carob is a legume, not a baked good. It is taken readily as a treat and can be scattered over the daily ration or stuffed into hay rolls.
How much carob does a horse get?
As a guide, 25 to 100 g per day, depending on body weight.
