The seeds of the chicory, also known as common chicory, are rich in crude oils and fats. They are mixed into the feed in moderation as a small treat.

Chicory seeds are the seeds of the chicory plant, also known as common chicory. The oil-rich seed naturally contains vitamin C as well as iron, zinc and minerals. With 62.5% crude oils and fats it is exceptionally rich – which is why you feed it only in moderation.

In small amounts the seeds are a popular complementary feed for wild birds, canaries, exotic birds, rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters and other rodents. The oily taste is taken readily, and the seed is regarded as a popular treat.
