Agrarzone Chicken Feed is a pelleted complete feed for laying hens that you can feed without adding anything else. The blend of wheat bran, maize semolina, rye bran, barley and wheat covers the daily supply, and the high calcium content of 4.41 percent is geared to eggshell formation.

What sets this feed apart are the aromatic compounds from citrus extract and clove. The composition lists them explicitly as a component against nuisance pests, which distinguishes it from an ordinary layer feed. Cereals and protein feed materials come from Europe.

Feeding recommendation:

Offer the feed to your laying hens ad lib. As a complete feed it covers the daily requirement, so nothing needs to be mixed in. If you are switching from another feed, blend it in gradually over about a week so the birds get used to the taste and shape.

Fresh water should always be available. Because of the high calcium content, the feed is not intended for pullets or chicks.

Questions & answers:

Does the feed replace mite control in the house?
No. The red poultry mite spends the day in cracks, crevices and under perches rather than on the bird. Cleaning and treating the house remain the basis, and the feed comes in addition to that.

Can pullets or chicks eat this feed?
Better not. At 4.41 percent calcium the blend is designed for birds in lay. Young birds need a rearing feed with far less calcium.

Do the hens need extra oyster shell or grit?
Not for calcium, the complete feed covers that. Grit in the sense of small stones for the gizzard is a different matter, and birds with outdoor access usually pick it up themselves.
