Vitamins for chickens in the drinking water: Agrarzone VitaminPlus 500 ml

Agrarzone VitaminPlus is a liquid dietetic complementary feed for poultry and pigs for the optimal vitamin supply around mating and breeding. Vitamin A stands for strong defences, vitamin D3 for bone building, and on top of that comes vitamin E. You dilute it in the drinking water and reach every animal in the group at the same time.

It is not given continuously but in set windows. In chickens that is the time of reproductive activity, when hens and cockerels are put together for breeding. VitaminPlus is also suitable for pigs, the windows for sows are in the feeding recommendation below.

Per litre, 1.250.200 IU vitamin A, 200.000 IU vitamin D3 and 20.000 mg vitamin E are declared. Because the vitamin A content is this high, VitaminPlus may make up no more than 0,2 % of the daily ration, it is not fed undiluted, and before use you obtain the advice of your vet.

Feeding recommendation:

You can use this feed by diluting 1 to 2 litres in 1.000 litres of drinking water for poultry. Use for female poultry during oestrus. For sows, 1 to 2 litres can likewise be diluted in 1.000 litres of drinking water. For sows, use from 7 days before to 3 days after farrowing and from 7 days before to 3 days after mating. Use for male animals during reproductive activity. Because of the raised vitamin A content, this dietetic complementary feed may only be used up to a share of no more than 0,2 % of the daily ration. Take account of the nutrient intake from other feed sources. Do not feed undiluted. Before using this dietetic complementary feed, or before extending the feeding period, the advice of a veterinarian must be obtained. Wear gloves when handling.

Converted, 1 to 2 litres per 1.000 litres of drinking water are 1 to 2 ml per litre, so 10 to 20 ml for a 10 litre drinker bucket. Shake the bottle well before use and make up the drinking water fresh every day.

Nutritional additives are nutrients such as vitamins that are deliberately added to the feed. Technological additives have no nutritional job, they keep the liquid product mixable and stable.

Storage and notes:

The minimum shelf life is 24 months from production and applies to hygienic, cool and dry storage. No liability is accepted in the case of improper storage. Keep out of reach of children. Shake well before use. Wear gloves when handling. Avoid breathing the vapours.

Questions and answers:

What does dietetic complementary feed mean? Is it a medicine, and do I need a vet for it?
Dietetic feed is a term from feed law and stands for a feed with a particular nutritional purpose, here the preparation for oestrus and reproduction. VitaminPlus supplements the ration within that window and is freely available. The advice of a veterinarian is still foreseen before use, because the vitamin A content is high and the upper limit of 0,2 % of the daily ration is tight.

Does it help when my hens are moulting or have stopped laying?
VitaminPlus is meant for the time around mating and breeding, that is what the particular nutritional purpose is written for, and that is when you use it. The moult is a normal yearly change of feathers, during which laying drops off on its own and picks up again afterwards. If a bird seems off beyond that, it belongs with a vet.

Are the eggs still edible during use, is there a withdrawal period?
You can use the eggs as normal, no withdrawal period is foreseen for this dietetic complementary feed. Stick to the stated dose and to the upper limit of 0,2 % of the daily ration and make up the drinking water fresh each day.
