Herbs for the immune system of chickens: Agrarzone ImmunPlus 500 ml

Agrarzone ImmunPlus is a liquid complementary feed for poultry that strengthens the immune system. It brings together a 7-herb natural complex and vitamin C, based on elderberry juice, milk thistle oil and sea buckthorn pulp oil. You dose it straight into the drinker and reach the whole flock at once, without mixing anything into the feed or weighing anything out. As a complementary feed it comes on top of the complete feed, it does not replace it.

At its core sits the 7-herb natural complex: artichoke, echinacea, cinnamon, thyme, mint, garlic and onion, plus ginger oil. These are the classic coop herbs that otherwise stand in the cupboard one jar at a time, here ready mixed and in liquid form. You do not have to brew or chop anything, 5 ml per litre of drinking water is enough.

On top of that comes vitamin C at 1.000 mg per kg. ImmunPlus is asked for above all on the days when there is more going on in the coop than usual: when rehousing, after buying in new birds, on hot summer days or around the moult. You can just as well give it as a course over a few days.

Questions and answers:

Do chickens need vitamin C at all? I have read that they produce it themselves.
That is right, chickens produce vitamin C in their own body, unlike humans. ImmunPlus adds another 1.000 mg per kg through the drinking water, plus the flavouring blend of seven herbs. Vitamin C is water-soluble, the body does not store it.

Garlic and onion are toxic to animals, so why are they in here?
That warning comes from keeping dogs and cats and refers there to garlic and onion as feed in larger amounts. No cloves and no onions are processed into ImmunPlus, what is in it are flavouring compounds totalling 12.800 mg per kg. At 5 ml per litre only traces of that reach the drinker.

Will the birds still drink the water if it tastes of herbs?
Usually yes, some birds need a day or two. The flavouring blend changes the smell and taste of the water, and hens differ in how fussy they are. During the changeover put a second drinker with plain water next to it, because too low a water intake quickly becomes a problem.
