Agrarzone EggPlus is a liquid complementary feed for poultry for firm egg shells that promotes laying performance. The shell mineral complex reaches the bird through the drinker, the first ingredient of the composition is calcium chloride.

The difference to solid mineral feed lies in the form of administration. Oyster shell and grit sit in the dish and only reach the birds that actually eat them, and laying hybrids in particular often leave the coarse lime lying there. What is dissolved in the drinking water, by contrast, is taken in by every bird that drinks.

Alongside the calcium the recipe holds zinc, manganese, copper, choline chloride and vitamin C, plus artichoke extract as a flavouring. Because of the raised trace element contents the share is capped at no more than 1 % of the daily ration, 1 to 2 litres per 1.000 litres of drinking water is the specification.

Feeding recommendation:

You can use this complementary feed by adding 1 to 2 litres per 1.000 litres of drinking water. Due to the increased content of trace elements, this complementary feed may only be used up to a maximum of 1 % of the daily ration. Take into account nutrient input from other feeds. Wear gloves when using. That is 1 to 2 ml per litre, so 5 to 10 ml for a 5 litre drinker bucket.

Do not mix the solution in stainless steel containers, use a plastic vessel, the usual drinker bucket will do.

Calcium chloride, dextrose, magnesium chloride, sodium chloride

The composition lists the feed materials in descending order of their share, so calcium chloride comes first here. An analytical value for calcium is not stated for this product, however, and the order alone does not allow an amount to be derived.

The analytical constituents refer to the undiluted product in the bottle, not to the ready drinking water. Crude ash is the mineral share of a feed, and at 10,90 % the figure is high for a liquid product. Individual mineral contents other than sodium are not stated.

Additives are grouped according to their function. Nutritional additives are nutrients such as vitamins and trace elements, sensory additives shape smell and taste, technological additives keep the product in the bottle stable. It is the contents of the first group that make the 1 % limit of the daily ration apply. All figures refer to one litre of undiluted product.

Storage:

Store EggPlus hygienically, cool and dry, then the minimum shelf life of 24 months from production is maintained. No liability is accepted in the case of improper storage. Keep the product out of reach of children. Do not use in stainless steel containers.

Questions and answers:

My chickens simply will not touch the oyster shell, is liquid via the water the answer?
That is exactly the case the liquid form is meant for. What stays in the dish never reaches the bird, while calcium dissolved in the drinking water is taken in by every bird that drinks. You still leave the grit dish out, because EggPlus does not replace the basic supply.

With thin shells, isn't vitamin D missing rather than calcium?
That cannot be said across the board, and EggPlus contains no vitamin D. Thin or missing shells have several possible causes, from the start of lay and the hen's age through to infections. If this keeps happening, work out the cause with your vet.

Why must I not mix this in stainless steel, will it attack my drinker?
EggPlus contains calcium chloride and phosphoric acid, and both can attack stainless steel. Mix the solution in a plastic vessel instead, the usual drinker bucket is perfectly sufficient. If your drinker is made of stainless steel, the product does not belong in it.
