The Agrarzone Anti-Stress Spray is a ready to use housing spray for poultry houses. It stands for protection against feather pecking and reduces stress and restlessness in the flock, and natural essential oils take care of that. You spray into the room and onto the surfaces, not onto the bird.

The oils come from field mint, grapefruit, Siberian fir, lavandin and sweet orange. You spray up to twice a day from a distance of around 20 cm onto housing walls and partitions as well as into the house air, until the flock settles down.

Nothing is diluted, the 500 ml bottle is ready to use. Typical occasions are days with unrest in the house: after mixing groups, when it gets crowded in winter or when the birds start to peck at each other.

Ingredients:

Aqua, alcohol, polysorbate-20, mentha arvensis herb oil, citrus paradisi oil, abies sibirica (needle) oil, lavandula hybrida abrial herb oil, citrus aurantium dulcis peel oil, potassium sorbate, citric acid.

The list is given in INCI notation, as is usual for cosmetics and fragrance products. Aqua is water, alcohol is alcohol, polysorbate-20 is a solubiliser that keeps the essential oils distributed in the water. The names ending in oil are the essential oils.

Directions for use:

Spray up to 2 times a day from a distance of around 20 cm onto housing walls and partitions as well as into the air. Avoid spraying the birds directly.

How to go about it: Hold the bottle around 20 cm away from the surface and spray the housing walls and partitions, releasing part of it into the room air. The spray is not aimed at the birds. The house is quietest when the birds are outside. Air it well afterwards.

Will the feather pecking stop with this?
Feather pecking arises out of husbandry, from feed, stocking density, house climate and occupation, and that is exactly where it is solved. The Anti-Stress Spray is a housing spray for the poultry house, it spreads the aroma of a blend of essential oils over the walls and partitions and in the air of the house. It is sprayed up to twice a day from around 20 cm onto the surfaces, not onto the birds.

My hens are pulling each other's feathers out. Why is that?
As a rule it comes down to one of four things: the feed, above all protein, amino acids and minerals, the house climate with damp bedding and a high ammonia load, too many birds on too little space, or boredom. Work through these four in order.

Is this moulting or feather pecking? I cannot tell them apart.
Look at the feathers and at the spot. In the moult, whole undamaged feathers drop evenly across the body and new quills grow back. With feather pecking the bare patches are limited, sit on the back, rump and vent area, and the feathers are broken off.
