Heating Plate for Chicks – The Modern Way to Brood
In addition to the classic heat lamp, the chick heating plate has established itself as an absolute favorite among breeders in recent years. It imitates the natural behavior of a mother hen almost perfectly. The plate does not just radiate heat into the room but passes it on directly to the chicks as contact heat. The small birds slip under the plate, feel the warming surface on their backs, and feel extremely safe and secure.
Low Power Consumption and Natural Calm
A huge advantage of the heating plate is its high energy efficiency. Since the heat is trapped directly under the plate and does not escape upwards, it often consumes only a fraction of the electricity compared to a conventional infrared heater. In addition, the plate does not emit any light. The chicks grow up in a natural day-night rhythm, sleep better in the dark at night, and are significantly less prone to feather pecking or stress behavior.
Infinitely Height Adjustable
For the heating plate to work optimally, it must grow with the chicks. Our models have four feet that can be infinitely adjusted in height. This allows you to adjust the distance between the floor and the plate exactly to the size of your chickens, quails, or ducks every week.
FAQ - Chick Brooder Plates
How do I set the height of the plate correctly?
The plate is perfectly adjusted when the standing chicks just touch the underside of the plate with their fluff. It is often helpful to set the plate at a slight angle (lower at the back than at the front). This allows smaller chicks to warm up further back, while larger animals find space in the front area.
How do I keep the top of the plate clean?
As soon as they are a bit bigger, chicks love to jump on the heating plate and dirty it with droppings. The simplest solution is a transparent plastic cover that fits exactly on the plate. Its pointed shape causes the chicks to slide off and they can no longer rest on the plate. This saves you tedious scrubbing.
What size do I need for my animals?
That depends on the breed. About 15 to 20 newly hatched chicken chicks fit under a small plate (e.g., 25x25 cm). However, keep in mind that the animals grow rapidly in the first few weeks. If in doubt, choose a plate one size larger so that all animals have enough space under it until they are fully feathered.
Natural Rearing with Modern Heating Plates
Simulate the warming feathers of a mother hen and give your chicks a feeling of absolute security. A chick heating plate works with gentle contact heat and consumes significantly less electricity than conventional radiant heaters. Thanks to the individually adjustable feet, the plate simply grows with your chickens, ducks, or quails. Without disturbing light at night, the animals find a healthy biorhythm.
