BUSSE Pelham Bit Stainless Steel, Short Shanks – precise control for a calm contact
The BUSSE Pelham bit in stainless steel is a single-jointed bit designed for riders who want finer, quicker communication with their horse. Its solid, massive construction keeps the bit steady in the horse's mouth, while the short shanks allow for fast pressure and release – useful for reaction speed in the showjumping course. This Pelham is particularly suited for small ponies and horses.
The way the bit acts depends on how it's buckled: with the rein on the large ring, the bit acts mainly on the tongue and bars; buckled via a Pelham strap it adds a moderate leverage effect on the poll too. For an even more precise aid, a pair of reins can be attached to both the large and small lower ring. All connecting parts are matched to the bit's size and thickness for an ideal fit. A matching curb chain is already included.

Warning/safety instructions for bits
A bit should have the correct width for the horse's mouth, which is measured on the horse in advance. The BUSSE bit width gauge is suitable for this.
The choice of the right type of bit is individual and depends on many factors - such as the horse's level of training, its mouth shape and sensitivity, and the rider's hand. Therefore, it makes sense to try out dentures.
When strapping in the bit, make sure that it is strapped in correctly: the BUSSE logo is on the left side of the horse's head, with the hollow side of the bit pointing towards the throat and the other side towards the mouth outlet . (If the bit is correctly positioned in front of you, you can read the size label on the right shank the right way up - it is not upside down.)
It is important that the bit fits correctly into the bit straps of the bridle or curb is buckled. When buckled correctly using the bit straps, approx. 2-3 small wrinkles will form at the corners of the mouth.
The bit should be checked regularly for signs of wear, such as sharp edges, and replaced if necessary. Please only use the bit if it is in an appropriate condition that does not harm the horse's well-being.
