Precise control in the ring: The Waldhausen Jumping Curb Bit, single jointed
The Waldhausen Jumping Curb Bit, single jointed (also known as a Kimblewick) offers show jumpers and eventing riders increased control and precise communication in demanding situations. Thanks to the single-jointed, hollow mouthpiece, the bit acts directly on the tongue and the bars of the lower jaw when the reins are pulled. The design of the jumping curb also allows for flexible rein attachment, providing a finely tuned lever action on the poll when needed. This makes the bit an excellent choice for horses that are very forward-going in the ring or tend to evade the rider's aids.
Crafted from high-quality stainless steel, this bit proves to be extremely durable, easy to care for, and completely rust-proof in daily use. For horses that prefer neutral equipment, stainless steel is the ideal choice: the smooth surface has no inherent taste and only minimally affects the horse's natural salivation. To best suit the anatomical conditions of the horse's mouth, the mouthpiece thickness is designed to ensure an optimal and comfortable fit across the range: up to a mouth width of 12.5 cm the mouthpiece is 14 mm thick, from 13.5 cm width it is 16 mm thick. For easy cleaning after riding, simply rinse the bit under running water.

Questions & Answers:
What exactly is the effect of a jumping curb bit?
A jumping curb bit combines the action of a standard snaffle with the benefits of a light lever effect. By attaching the reins to the designated slots, pressure can be applied to the poll as needed. Combined with the single-jointed mouthpiece, it is very effective for better framing forward-going horses in the ring.
Why does the bit thickness vary by size?
The mouthpiece thickness is functionally linked to the mouth width. Smaller horses and ponies (up to 12.5 cm width) usually have less room in the mouth, so the bit is kept slightly slimmer at 14 mm. For larger horse heads from 13.5 cm width, the 16 mm thickness ensures optimal, horse-friendly pressure distribution.
