When you ride you wear your riding hat, but around the yard your head is often unprotected. Hats & caps keep your ears and forehead warm in winter and protect you from the sun in summer. After riding, put your hat on straight after taking off your riding hat so your warm head does not cool down.

A thin skull cap is worn under a helmet and warms your head and ears without adding bulk. With a riding hat, make sure it still sits firmly and level. If it feels too tight with a cap underneath, a winter kit for the riding hat is the better solution. Only if it is very thin and the riding hat still sits firmly and level. A thick knitted hat changes the fit and could allow the riding hat to move in a fall. For winter there are winter kits or thin skull caps.

How do I wash a knitted hat with a fleece lining?
Ideally by hand or on a wool cycle at a low temperature. Gently press out the water without wringing and let the hat dry flat. Faux fur pompoms can be removed beforehand if they are attached with a popper, which keeps them fluffy for longer.
