Replacement Post: Repair Your Netting Instead of Replacing It
A replacement post takes the place of a broken or bent post in your electric netting. The posts are the parts that take the most punishment in everyday use: they are pushed into hard ground, knocked by animals and bent when the net is taken down. Instead of replacing the whole net, you simply thread in a new post. We have posts made of fibreglass or steel, with single or double spikes and for different net heights.
Single or Double Spike
A post with a double spike has two prongs at the bottom. It stands more firmly, does not twist in the ground and is easier to tread in with your foot. On hard or stony ground that is a big advantage. Posts with a single spike are slimmer and slide into soft ground without much effort. What matters is that the length and clips match your net. A post for sheep netting is usually shorter than one for a tall predator netting such as WolfNet.
Corner Posts and Extra Support
At corners and in dips, the net pulls especially hard on the post. An extra steel corner post gives support there and stops the net from sagging or toppling over. You place it next to the net post and connect the two. That way the net keeps its shape at critical points and the strands do not drop close to the ground, where they would lose current into the grass. With sheep netting on a slope, this really pays off.
Frequently asked questions
How do I swap a post in electric netting?
Undo the clips on the old post and pull it out of the net. Thread the new post in at the same height and fasten it at the same points so the strands do not shift.
Does every replacement post fit every electric net?
No, the length, spike and net clips have to match the net. The safest choice is a post from the same brand and range as your netting.
Why do netting posts break so often?
Usually when they are trodden into hard or frozen ground. When the ground is dry, make a pilot hole with an iron bar instead of forcing the post in.
Replacement Posts for Electric Netting
A broken post is no reason at all to replace a whole electric net. With a replacement post you can get your netting back into proper shape in just a few minutes. Here you will find Kerbl fibreglass posts, AKO replacement posts for various nets, double spike posts for hard ground and matching posts for TitanNet sheep netting and WolfNet. Double spikes stand more firmly and are easier to tread in, while single spikes slide into soft ground. For corners and dips there is a 120 cm steel support post that gives the net extra hold. When buying, make sure the length and clips suit your particular net. Your electric netting will stand taut again, the strands stay clear of the ground, and your sheep, goats or chickens stay safely fenced in all season.
