Washing in moderation

A shampoo for light-coloured coats helps to brighten droppings and urine stains. On stubborn areas, apply it undiluted and leave it to work for a moment before rinsing thoroughly. Clean, dry bedding helps to prevent stains in the first place.

What helps if my horse rubs its mane and tail?
Behind the rubbing there may be insects, mites, sweet itch or dry skin. Soothing lotions and sprays can calm the skin, but your vet should get to the bottom of the cause. Keep the crest and dock clean and note when the itching occurs.
