Coat & Mane Spray: easier combing, more shine
A coat & mane spray leaves a fine conditioning film on the hair. Mane and tail are then easier to detangle, knots form more slowly, and straw or hay is less likely to get caught. On the coat it gives a visible shine and makes the hair smoother, so dust does not cling as much. Many sprays contain conditioning ingredients such as aloe vera, coconut oil, camomile or cedarwood oil and have a pleasant scent.
How to use the spray properly
Spray onto a clean, dry coat and let it soak in briefly. For mane and tail, divide the hair into sections, spray them and then comb through from the bottom up. Important: leave out the saddle and girth area, because otherwise the coat becomes too slippery there and the saddle or girth can slip. Do not spray the head directly; put a little spray on a cloth instead and wipe it over the coat.
For greys, plaits and little hands
For light-coloured horses there are sprays that condition the coat and give it a clear colour. A plaiting gel gives the mane more grip, so that show plaits stay neat and do not slip. For children, glitter sprays turn grooming into an experience. Larger refill containers are worthwhile if you look after several horses or use the spray regularly.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use mane spray before plaiting?
Better not, as smooth hair slips out of the plaits. Wash the mane beforehand and use a plaiting gel that gives the hair more grip. You can then go back to the smoothing spray for everyday use.
How often should I use coat and mane spray?
For mane and tail, once a week or after washing is usually enough. On the coat, use it before special occasions or when your horse is very dusty. Spraying too often is not necessary, and a little goes a long way.
Does mane spray help against rubbing?
A spray makes mane and tail supple, but it does nothing about the cause of rubbing. Insects, sweet itch or mites are often behind it. So if your horse rubs frequently, have it checked by your vet.
Spray for shine and supple manes and tails
Whether before a show, after washing or simply for everyday grooming, a good spray makes caring for mane and tail much easier. It smooths the hair, so you can loosen knots with the brush more easily and lose fewer hairs. On the coat it gives a lovely shine and stops dust clinging so much.
