Is a hay box better than a haynet?
Both slow down eating and keep the hay clean. A hay box stands firmly on the floor and allows a natural head position while eating. A haynet is more flexible, but it should hang high enough that your horse cannot catch a hoof in it.

At what height should I hang the feed trough?
Horses eat most comfortably with their head lowered, much like when grazing. The trough should therefore sit fairly low, at about chest height or below. The key is that your horse cannot step into it with its legs.
